It's time to go back! Our comany is working with Russian airline Yakutia Airlines to operate weekly flights from Anchorage to Kamchatka; we operated 10 in the summer of 2012, and will expand the service to 14 flights in 2013. I am a passionate white water kayaker and hope to visit the Kamchatka peninsula one day. I am of Latvian decent and plan to live there and travel to Russia for many reasons…therefore I am very excited to learn of your expedition today from reading a magazine I can't quite remember the title of! Anyway…wish I could join!

      Hey Steve,
That Wild Russia segment has done a great job of bringing some much needed attention to Kamchatka. With your support we'll be able to keep the ball rolling by producing media and stories that help Kamchatka's pristine wilderness gain the international public interest it needs to endure. Help us out by donating today here, learning about Kamchatka on this site, and letting your friends know about the project.
      Thanks!

Exciting stuff! I spent five weeks on the coast of Kamchatka Peninsula with 50 American and Russian students and teachers in the summer of1993. It was at the end of my second year of teaching. We were dropped off by a fishing tender and fended for ourselves camping next to a salmon stream. It was an adventure full of adventures including a broken-down boat (the tender), facing off a grizzly bear who ate much of our camp's food (with no weapons because they are not allowed in Russian wilderness), a Japanese earthquake-caused tsunami, and torrential rains not to mention unperiled beauty, remote pristine wilderness and some serious bonding experiences with my students and colleagues. I will be following your expedition closely and wishing you safe travels and solid research!

This is a great project and a great website. Do you have any clothing items for sale to help promote the expedition?

Funny that you ask! We JUST made a new batch of Kamchatka Project T-shirts and will be offering them on the site within the next week! Keep posted :)
